Hammer Ranger of Doooooom :D (pvp fun, not overly serious)
in light of the thread saying R/W are inferior to W/*, i decided to give the lowly R/W a try.
before i begin, as with most of my build threads, most are not competition material (GvG or HoH) just fun to use in the random arenas
Ranger/Warrior
Attributes
Hammer Mastery - 12
Expertise - 11 (hat + minor rune)
Wilderness Survival - 10 (minor rune only)
Beast Mastery - 4
Skills
-Crushing Blow
-Tiger's Fury
-Backbreaker
-Counterblow
-Dryder's Defense/Storm Chaser/Antidote signet
-res sig
-Troll Unguent
-Whirling Defense
the premise of this build is very simple....SWING THAT HAMMER!!!
TF is there for obvious reasons. WD for some defense, TU for some half decent healing (not that good though >_>). Counter blow, one of the best anti-attacker skills there is, (attacking, not speel casting) in my eyes at least. backbreaker for that all important interruption at perfect times (res sig go poof ) and crushing blow for that lil added damage/deep wound.
this build works decently against all classes, but as always it has its flaws. getting blinded pretty much screws you over, unless you bring antidote signet along. stances are annoying at times (always possible to carry round wild blow to berid the opposition of the stance).
personally i enjoy trying to outduel a wamo bent on raping my casters . hit tiger's fury -> attack -> counter blow -> crushing blow -> repeat (minus the crushing blow) and then backbreaker round the 2nd repeat cycle (unless you'd rather save it against something more worthwhile). this is basically what you see: warrior up, warrior down, warrior up, warrior down lol
well i'd like some people's input on this, never hurts to see what other people think of my follies :3

This build look like an annoyance... you pratically cant touch this char 50% of the time if it carry 2 defensive stances... while it just knock you down again and again... I suppose it give melee people quite a few problem... not bad for arena I guess.
Personally I still prefer "lets get this over quick" that kind of build =/

well how many people actually carry a defensive stance, let alone 2? from the past 2 days of testing this build out, i came across only a handful of people who have (one being a ranger with WD, the other being warriors, 2 at most with one defensive stance or another, one carried dolyak signet, and one mesmer))
other then that i havent come across that many people with them.
as for your prefered build i'm guessing its either an air ele spiker or the virulence/fragility mes/necro?

nah, although I prefer it quick... however, I dislike over used build... I was one of the first few people who is air at all back in BWE... now, there are so many that it is becoming annoying for me =/
as for the fragility+ virulence thing, I don't even have virulence unlock @_@
I guess someone assume too much huh? =P
I like to go with things that can have a clear cut of skills... and usually things at fast pace... example, power spike power leak... then sometimes couple of chain dmg and the sort... I suppose if you want to say I like burst dmg, that you are probably right =P
a kind of dmg that let your opponent go "oh ****!!" all of sudden heh...
Then again... I also like things that make people go "what is going on? my skill is blacking out 1 after another for no reason!!??"... the more unseen, the more i like it.

Take out Tiger's Fury for Frenzy and learn to use it. Take Sprint instead of one of your defensive stances. R/W sucks.

You are a R/W without irresistable blow. If there ever was a reason to go R/W, its to spam that skill every other attack. Counter Blow out for Irresistable and Whirling D out for Throw Dirt.

Vermilion - i tend to assume at times, but ever since the fragility/virulence combo was posted on here, i've seen it pop up in random arenas more often. i'm guessing you like mesmers dont ya?:P
Neo-LD - i'll see how iressitable blow works out today~
